Ecotype: Riparian/Woodland + Woodland Edge
For: Streambanks, drainage swales, drain pipes, soggy areas and wet zone stabilization
Aesthetic: Dynamic seasonal change, wildlife corridor
The Rain Garden acts like a riparian restoration edge between your boggy, wet zones and the rest of your garden, offering an elegant transition while also offering a functional ecological function by moving stormwater away.
Designed for water-adjacent environments including stream banks, drainage corridors and wetland edges, it combines Riparian and Woodland Edge ecotypes to stabilize soil, filter runoff and support wildlife habitat.
Includes a planting plan with up to 30 native and beneficial species such as Cornus sericea, Symphoricarpos albus, Spiraea douglasii, Carex obnupta, Juncus effusus and Mimulus guttatus to form dense, adaptive planting structures.
This system is both aesthetic and infrastructural—supporting hydrological function while maintaining seasonal beauty.
The Rain Garden is ecological infrastructure disguised as landscape design. It stabilizes water systems using native planting palettes while enhancing biodiversity and seasonal variation.
Function-first planting design.
